And it's all over

Well, the racing is now over for the 2004 Paralympic Sailing Competition in Athens, Greece and it's been an exceptional event.

The final day of racing took place in very light and variable conditions, just 6 knots and from a south westerly direction. Both fleets completed one race after a short postponement and it was a nail biting end to the competition. In the 2.4mR class the medal winners were determined but the which sailor would receive which colour was decided out on the water. In the end it was the French sailor Damien SEGUIN who claims gold with Thomas BROWN (USA) second and Thierry SCHMITTER (NED) the bronze. Heiko KROEGER (GER) silenced his critics by taking the bullet, too little to late for the pre-competition favourite.

The final results for the Sonar fleet are now final and it is Israel who take the gold.
